However, for Donder WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 qualifiers from area tournaments held outside of Japan, transportation to the championship and lodgings will be paid for by Bandai Namco Amusement Inc.(applies only to the participant).

Those who play the preliminary contests songs using Bandai Namco Passport between Dec. 10, 2023 and Mar. 17, 2024 will receive Titles. Distribution will begin after the preliminary contests period ends.

How to Participate

Complete entry at the arcade on the day of the tournament!
If the number of entries exceeds the limit, participants will be selected by drawing.
Bring your Bandai Namco Passport.

  • *Bring your Taiko no Tatsujin Official Mybachi if you want to use them.

Rules

  • ・Two participants at a time will play one of the four the songs chosen for the Preliminary Contests in order of entry.
  • ・The song played will be announced at each venue on the day of the tournament.
  • ・The participant who wins at rock paper scissors gets first choice of 1P or 2P (left/right).
  • ・After all participants have finished playing, the two participants with the highest scores may advance to the Regional Tournament.
  • *Those who qualify for the Regional Tournament must fill out the Preliminaries Representative Sheet. Minors will also require the signature of their legal representative (parent/guardian) on a consent form.
  • *After the preliminaries, submit the required forms to the arcade you participated at within seven days.
  • *If you do not submit the forms within the deadline, you will be disqualified from participating in the Regional Tournament.

  • *The number of areas is determined based on the amount of active units in each country.
Participation Conditions
  • ・Must be selected in the General Division Preliminary Contests
  • ・Must have a Bandai Namco Passport
  • ・Must live in one of the tournament regions and know the local language
  • ・Must definitely be able to attend the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in Tokyo, Japan should they win the Regional Tournament.
  • ・Must be a model player capable of complying with the rules.
  • *There is no age restriction for the General Division.
  • *Minors require the consent of a legal representative (parent/guardian) to participate.

How to Participate

Go to your respective Regional Tournament arcade at the designated date/time.

Bring the following items:

  • ① Your Regional Tournament Participation Ticket
  • ② Your Bandai Namco Passport
  • ③ Your photo ID
  • * Please bring your photo ID with you on the event day, as verifying your identity at the area competition will be required. Failure to present it may result in disqualification.
  • *Bring your Taiko no Tatsujin Official Mybachi if you want to use them.
  • *The tournament date/time differs by area. Make sure you have the right date for your area.
  • *The organizer, preliminary tournament arcade, and the tournament management will not contact you except in the case of an emergency.

Rules

There are two rounds: a preliminary round and a final round.

Preliminary Round
  • ・Two participants at a time will play two of the four the songs chosen for the preliminary round in an order decided by drawing.
  • ・The winner is determined based on the total score of both songs played.
  • ・The songs played will be announced at each venue on the day of the tournament.
  • ・The participant who wins at rock paper scissors gets first choice of 1P or 2P (left/right).
  • ・Participants switch between 1P and 2P (left/right) in between songs.
  • ・After all participants have finished playing, the four participants with the highest total scores may advance to the final round.
Final Round
  • ・One participant at a time will play two of the three challenge songs chosen for the final round in the same order they played in the preliminary round.
  • ・Participants are free to choose between P1 and P2 (left/right) when playing.
  • ・The challenge song played will be announced at each venue on the day of the tournament.
  • ・The person with the highest score of all four participants will be determined the winner of the General Division Regional Tournament.
Finals Tournament Advancement Challenge
  • ・After the winner of the General Division Regional Tournament is decided, they will participate in the Finals Tournament Advancement Challenge, in which they will play one additional song at the tournament venue.
  • ・The song played will be the one not chosen from the three final round the songs.
  • ・Their total score for all three final round the songs will be recorded in the Worldwide Ranking list on the official tournament website.
    • *The Worldwide Ranking list will be comprised of the scores of all General Division area tournament winners.
  • ・The top 29 players in the Worldwide Ranking may advance to the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.

General Preliminary Contests&Regional Tournaments

Drumsticks Used in the Tournament
  • ・Participants may play using the drumsticks attached to the arcade game cabinet or their Taiko no Tatsujin Official Mybachi. However, use of modified drumsticks (Mybachi) is not permitted. For details, see the Taiko no Tatsujin Official Mybachi Tournament Play Checklist.
  • ・Playing with a cloth covering the drum or other modifications to the game unit is prohibited.
For Minors and Legal Representatives (Parents/Guardians)
  • ・There is no age restriction for the General Division.
  • ・Minors require the consent of a legal representative (parent/guardian) to participate.
  • ・Those who qualify for the Regional Tournament must fill out the Preliminaries Representative Sheet. Minors will also require the signature of their legal representative (parent/guardian) on a consent form. It is requested that minors bring their legal representative (parent/guardian) with them on the day of the tournament if possible.
  • *If a legal representative cannot give consent at the tournament venue due to unavoidable circumstances, minors who will play in the tournament may take the consent form home following the end of the preliminaries and return it signed to the arcade they participated at within seven days.
Default Loss/Disqualification
  • ・Participants who have not made it to reception by the starting time of the preliminaries may be determined the loser by default.
  • ・Participants may register for and participate in multiple Preliminary Contests. However, once a participant has qualified for the Regional Tournament at one arcade, they can no longer participate in the preliminaries at another arcade. (One participant cannot become the representative for multiple arcades.)
  • ・Players found to have violated the rules may be disqualified.
  • ・Play styles that involve dangerous actions or interfere with another player's performance may result in disqualification.
  • ・If a participant chosen to be an arcade representative voluntarily withdraws their qualification, they may not participate in preliminaries held at other arcades at a later date. If they are later found to have participated in other preliminaries in violation of this rule, they will be disqualified.
  • ・Only those who have submitted an entry to the tournament may participate. If a participant is found to have played in the tournament in another person's place, they will both be disqualified.
  • ・Participants who do not follow the tournament rules or instructions from the arcade staff and tournament management may be disqualified.
In Case of Regional Tournament Representative Withdrawal
  • ・When an Regional Tournament winner must withdraw from the Finals Tournament Advancement Challenge for reasons beyond their control, the second place participant from that area will be promoted and allowed to participate in the Finals Tournament Advancement Challenge.
  • ・If an area tournament winner withdraws from the tournament following the Finals Advance Challenge, the tournament will proceed without a representative or alternate from that area.
  • *In the case of any other unforeseen developments, the best measures for the given situation shall be determined at that time.
Other
  • ・Each store may have its own closing time for reception, so please check the posters at the stores where the preliminary tournaments will be held.
  • ・In the event of unfair gameplay, the game may be temporarily suspended and restarted at the discretion of the arcade staff.
  • ・In the event of unit error or other unforeseen trouble, the game may be temporarily suspended and restarted at the discretion of the arcade staff.
  • ・By entering this tournament, you grant our company or third parties permission to use your likeness, name, player name (Donder Name), rank, gameplay videos, comments from interviews, etc., for products, websites, and other media. This permission extends to all possible uses (including commercial use) and may include, but is not limited to, the editing, public presentation, release, and news reporting of the above data.
  • ・When registering your Donder Name for the tournament, please only use the characters available when accessing Donder Hiroba from your local region using standard methods.
  • ・Tournament participants may be requested by the arcade to change their Donder Names if they include inappropriate language, proper nouns relating to existing companies, businesses, people, religions, organizations, etc., or if they infringe upon other companies' copyrights.
    Participants may also be requested to change their Donder Names at any point following the preliminaries at the tournament management's discretion.
  • ・During the Preliminary Contests and Regional Tournaments, transportation to the venue, lodgings, and any other related costs are the responsibility of the participant. Transportation to Japan and lodgings for finals qualifiers from Regional Tournaments held outside of Japan will be paid for by Bandai Namco Amusement (applies only to the participant).
  • ・Event may be altered, postponed, or canceled without prior notice.
  • ・Please comply with any rules specific to the establishment where your preliminaries are held.
  • ・Those with access to undisclosed information relating to the game's development are prohibited from participating in the tournament.
